Sugar Sugar Custom Cakes

Sugar Sugar Custom Cakes has two shops, an East location on Jessup Avenue in Quogue and a West location in Farmingdale. The site says it has been making cakes for Long Island weddings for over 30 years.

How they work

Both shops work by appointment, and the site invites couples to call to schedule a tasting. The wedding page is a photo gallery of past cakes. The flavor menu is long: vanilla bean pound cake and chiffon, chocolate fudge, carrot, red or pink velvet, marble, banana chocolate chip, lemon mascarpone, pistachio, toasted almond and orange blossom, among others. Fillings include buttercreams such as raspberry Chambord, salted caramel and apple cider bourbon, plus almond diplomat cream, chocolate truffle, mousse and cannoli, with fresh berries on request. The bakery says it accommodates most flavors not on the menu. In a 2023 Dan’s Papers panel, Christina Bisbee of Sugar Sugar Custom Cakes said that when a couple has dietary restrictions she makes one tier to suit them, and a separate side cake for a few guests (Dan’s Papers).

Who it suits

Couples marrying in the western Hamptons who want to taste and choose from a broad menu at a shop near the venue. It is less suited to couples who want prices or a delivery area in writing before the first call, since the site lists neither.
