Montauk Yacht Club

Montauk Yacht Club is a resort and marina on Star Island in Lake Montauk. It hosts weddings of about 50 to 300 guests, with food, bar and coordination handled by the resort. It traded as Gurney’s Star Island from 2018 and went back to its historic name after Safe Harbor Marinas bought it in 2022 (Behind The Hedges).

The setting

The Waterfront Ballroom seats 160 for dinner, holds 200 for a ceremony and 250 for cocktails. The Great Lawn looks over the private marina, and the Sunset Pier takes up to 160. The Cottage Lawn is listed for up to 500. Smaller spaces cover the rest of the weekend, from the North Courtyard for dinners of 150 to the Lighthouse Fire Pits for 140. Zola lists different figures, including up to 150 seated in the ballroom, so confirm your numbers with the venue. There are bridal suites in Lighthouse One and a getting ready space called The Studio.

Who it suits

Couples who want boats and water in every photo and guests staying on site, with room blocks arranged on request. It also works for a full weekend, since there are spaces for a welcome party and an after party. It is not for couples who want a winter date, since the resort is open seasonally from spring through fall.

• Room fees are reported at $7,500 for the Great Lawn, $4,000 for the Waterfront Ballroom and $3,500 for the Sunset Pier (Zola). Zola lists peak season as June to October.
