New York Virtuosi
A New York City collective founded as a string quartet in 2012, now offering strings, jazz, party bands and DJ groups with live players.
New York Virtuosi is a New York City based music agency founded in 2012 by violist Peter Kiral. It began as a string quartet and now books a wider roster for weddings, fashion events and concerts in New York City, Long Island and the Hamptons.
How they work
For weddings the offer runs from ceremony to dance floor. The string quartet is the group it hires out most, and it can add flute, harp or a vocalist. Other options include a string trio, a violin and piano duo, a cello and guitar duo, harpists, a pianist, a brass quintet, jazz bands, a party band called The Spicers and a sixteen piece pop string orchestra for dinner. Its hybrid DJ groups pair a DJ with electric violin, saxophone, percussion or a singer. The quartet’s repertoire covers more than 300 pieces across pop, classical, Broadway, Jewish, Bollywood and jazz, and an arranger can write a custom string arrangement. Its own pages show a wedding ceremony in Montauk and a Montauk wedding reception with a five piece hybrid DJ group.
Who it suits
Couples who want one booking for refined ceremony strings and a livelier reception with live players over a DJ. It suits a Montauk or South Fork wedding with guests from the city. It is less suited to couples who need a firm budget before the first conversation, since no rates are published.
